ALPHA OMEGA ARTS

"ALIOS ITZHAK" (above) by Kehinde Wiley is the NEWS OF WEEK. In promoting the unveiling of this newly purchased work for its collection, the Jewish Museum of New York made sure everyone in the city, if not the nation knew about it. In NYC, you couldn't miss it! A copy of the portrait was hand-painted onto the side of a building in Manhattan, Hip-Hop preview parties were held, and every news outlet in the city printed either this photograph, or one of its brother portraits in the museum's newest exhibition.

INTERFAITH EXHIBITS:

• Poem-photographer John Sherman opened his exhibition on Thursday at the Indiana Interchurch Center Gallery (Mesa Verde Press)
• An interfaith roster of congregations have united with Cincinnati arts institutions to sponsor a month-long series of lectures exploring the “Spiritual through Art” (Cincinnati Enquirer)

BUDDHIST ART:

• Buddhist monks in Florida created art (sand mandala), and destroyed it...once again (Sun Sentinel)
• See a new style of mandala by California artist, Terry Long Buddhist. They are made with flashlights (Redlands Daily Facts)
• Award-winning Japanese artist Setsuko LaCroix opened a powerful new show in Cincinnati on Friday night (Alpha Omega Arts)

HINDU ART:

• A&O marked this week's Hindu Holy-day of "HOLI" with Art (Alpha Omega Arts)

ISLAMIC ART:

• New film on Islamic Art premiered in Chicago last night, and will be on PBS this summer (Huffington Post)
• Researchers found that the number of US mosques grew by 72% since 2000 (USA Today) 

JEWISH ART:

• A&O marked this week's Jewish Holy-day of "PURIM" with Art by Rabbi Yitzchock Moully (Alpha Omega Arts) 
• Kehinde Wiley showcases his view of "Israel" at the Jewish Museum of NYC (Huffington Post)
